RMGC JUNIOR MEMBERS TO PLAY IN THE NICK FALDO SERIES

Quint Van Beek, John Micallef Stafrace and Matthew Cassar Torreggiani and have been accepted to participate in the Nick Faldo Series tournament that will be held at the Glyfada Golf Club in Athens next week.
The tournament being held in Greece is the last of 19 regional tournaments that started to be played from April this year. The most promising golfers (aged 12-21 years) from these regional tournaments will be invited to attend the Faldo Series 17th Grand Final that will be held at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia in October 2013. In addition to past winners Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng, the Faldo Series is proud to include Guan Tianlang, who at 14-years old became the youngest player to make a cut in major championship history when he finished 58th at The Masters Tournament.
Last year’s tournament at Glyfada was won by Asaf Cohen of Israel by six shots, shooting rounds of 76 and 74 to beat 2011 finalist Vasilis Koubakis to the title. With his win, 18-year-old Asaf became the first Israeli to win a Series event.
The Glyfada Golf Club is the oldest and largest golf club in Greece. The course is located in the seaside town of Glyfada which is a suburb of Athens. It started operating in 1966 and has continually hosted such events as the World Cup Tournament in 1979, the Mediterranean Gamers in 1992, and for the past three years, the PGA Senior Greek Open. It is a par 72 course and was designed by Donald Harradine.
The players will be accompanied by the undersigned and their participation in this tournament is possible partly due the Funding Protocol for 2013 approved by the Malta Olympic Committee.
