LI AND YANG WIN THE MGA GENERATION CUP 2025
04/03/2025

Having missed to make it in last year’s season, the MGA’s Generation Cup was gladly up for grabs again on Sunday 2nd March when eighteen teams descended to Royal Malta to play in the main tournament over 18 holes of play in a Texas Scramble net medal format. Another eight teams played in the subsidiary competition over eight holes.
Meant for very young Junior Academy players accompanied by an adult, the subsidiary competition was won by the previous edition’s winners, Cai Denaro and his grandfather Victor, with a net score of 31 on countback from father and son duo Nicklas and Oliver Forsberg. Three teams tied for third place with Sandip Tamang and his adopted Arthur Hotier Glasper claiming their prize on countback from Silvano & Edoardo Cafolla and Peter & JJ Naudi.
With a net 61, the main competition was won by Jason Li and Yang Yang a shot clear from Dorien & Alex Mece and Finley Gratil with his adopted ‘son’ Aleksander Vagimov. The latter guns played according to the terms of the competition which stipulated that, players under 18 years of age, who had no golfing relatives, could be ‘adopted’ an RMGC member. At 11 and 10 years of age respectively.
Jason and Alex are members of the RMGC’s Junior Academy, and we congratulate them as we do all other young legs who participated in the competition for their courage and fine display of golf and sportsmanship.
Keep it up!
