A record number of 30 teams participated in this yearâs edition of the MGA Generation Cup. The tournament was played in a Texas Scramble net medal format over 18 holes. Another 8 teams participated in the subsidiary competition in a similar format but over only 8 holes.
The 7th edition of the tournament set a new record when 101 young players travelled from 15 different countries to join another 5 local members to participate in the event which is endorsed by The R&A towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking points system. The three largest participating nationals hailed from Austria, Germany and Turkey.
The Executive Council Members of the Malta Golf Association, working together with the Royal Malta Golf Club and the PGA of Malta, congratulates The R&A for developing an awareness of female participation in golf and are proud to add their support towards the initiative.
The R&A and the USGA have unveiled the new Rules of Golf, to be implemented on 1 January 2019.
