WORKING FOR THE GOLF COURSE
26/03/2012
The Malta Golf Association President, William Beck, and the Royal Malta Golf Club Chairman, Paul Stoner, are travelling to the home of golf to attend the “Working for the Golf Course” conference being held this week at St Andrews.
This is the second environment conference organised by the Royal and Ancient in these last four years and is indicative of the importance that the R & A places on sustainable management of the golf course.
This year’s conference will be based on interactive discussions whereby the participants will be encouraged to discuss the four main areas that contribute to sustainable management and i.e. playing performance; economic performance; environmental stewardship and social responsibility as well as legislation, green keepers’ training, certification and other similar issues that will have an impact on and affect the future of the game.
The conference comes at an opportune time for golf in Malta as the MGA and the RMGC are in the process of delivering a mutual project to formulate a common environmental and ecological policy for the benefit of future golfing generations in Malta.
