Mia Allsopp and Quint van Beek are on their way to the UK and to mainland Europe respectively to play in different competitions.

Mia, at 15 years of age, travels to Liverpool specifically to the West Lancashire Golf Course as our first female representative in the biennial R&A Junior Open Championship.

Like the neighbouring Royal Liverpool Golf Course (the venue for The Open which starts this Thursday), the West Lancs is a links course abundant with heavy rough.

Whilst this will be Mia’s first major championship, Quint has already experienced international tournament play.

His first stop will be in Luxembourg precisely at the Kikuoka Country Club in Canach where he will participate in the 69th International European Men Amateur Championship.

On the 23rd July he will then have his first round at the Nick Faldo Series Netherlands Championship which will be played at the Burg Golf Course in Herkenbosch.

The participation of these young players is possible through the funding that the MGA is receiving from the Maltese Olympic Committee.
